At our school, we like to build connections with our KGMS parents. They are included in the educational journeys of their children. Collaborating with families at Kenneth Gordon Maplewood is what makes our programs special. Our parents’ support and participation creates a great impact on our school and students.
Family Involvement
Our goal is to support the whole family and we are committed to consistent communication and collaboration. From day one, we work closely with families to ensure Individual Education Plans (IEP) fit the needs of their child.
In addition to providing regular progress updates, we also hold parent education evenings on topics that encompass academic programming, demystification, safety and finance.
KGMS Parent Association
We are thankful to have our active and supportive Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School Parent Association (PA). All parents/guardians of KGMS are members of our PA. The primary focus of the PA is parent community engagement through volunteering, association activities and events. Its purpose is to connect our parents and strengthen our school community.
The KGMS Parent Association’s Planning Group is made up of a core group of volunteer parents/guardians who accept roles to oversee activities, planning, and finances for the PA. Members of the Planning Group accept a one-year term position to lead specific events or activities on behalf of the PA. We collaborate with educators, staff, administration, and parents/guardians of the KGMS Parent Association to organize and coordinate events and activities throughout the year. We work together to enhance KGMS’s vibrant sense of community by helping to build a foundation for community connections.
The PA organizes events and fundraising initiatives for the school. From family education and support, to home-school communication, the PA serves as a resource for families at KGMS.
Volunteer
We appreciate all the support we receive from active parents at Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School. We ask that those who volunteer sign up for roles through the OnVolunteers platform.
